Origen de la moneda

 La palabra moneda proviene del latìn ''moneta'', y alude al taller donde se fabricaban las monedas en Roma, que quedaba cercano al templo de la diosa Juno Moneta, en la colina del Capitolio.

 La aparicìon de la moneda significò un gran avance para las transacciones comerciales hasta entonces dominadas por el trueque. Con la moneda surge una pieza metàlica con un valor primero determinado por su peso, y luego con un valor simbolico y representativo.

 La moneda es una medida de valor comùn que es una manifestaciòn de la soberanìa de un Estado, que le permite pagar el real valor del producto que se desea adquirir.

 En los primeros tiempos de lo que luego fue la antigua Roma, habitada por los porbladores del lacio, ya se ideo un modo de asignarle un cierto valor a algunas cosas a efectos del intercambio. Se le otorgo de este modo valor al ganado ( pecus) : las ovejas valian diez ases, y cien ases las vacas. De aqui procede el tèrmino pecuniario referido al dinero. los metales como moneda comenzaron a usarse a partir de la edad de hierro. Las primeras monedas romans fueron de cobre, cuya unidad fue el As, luego usaron monedas de plata  y de oro; en Asis se usò el oro, y en Grecia la plata.
